As a newer member at Rockdale VAPA, I am excited to begin my second year. My name is Melissa O'Bryant, but my family and friends call me "Millie". I have been teaching with LAUSD for 17 years. In those years, I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and this is my fourth year teaching 5th grade. Prior to LAUSD, I taught Physical Education at a private school in Pasadena. Being around students for so many years, I have come to realize children will rise to the occasion as long as they are acknowledged everyday with a warm and friendly smile, provided with challenging lessons, and know that they can do anything.
Working at Rockdale VAPA has allowed me to be more creative. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to integrate the arts into our curriculum and show students how important it is to create and appreciate visual aesthetics as well as being inventive and problem solvers.

In addition to my students at Rockdale, I have an awesome partner in life, my husband Danny. My husband is of the creative mind. He has been in the art business for 30+ years. He absolutely loves what he does because he says, "people are always happy when they see art." We also have our four-legged barking friends, Toby, Lincoln, Truman, and Eleanor. They bring us love and joy everyday when we walk through the door. We enjoy spending time at the beach where we can walk the dogs, sit, read, and enjoy the sunsets!
